After working in the field of nursing for 50 years, Ms. Taft retired from her role as a relief case manager. Earlier in her career, she was honored to join the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore as a staff nurse – a position she also held at the Palo Alto-Stanford Hospital, now known as the Stanford University Medical Center. Over the years, Ms. Taft gained valuable expertise in nursing through the San Mateo County Health Department and the Stanford University Medical Center and parlayed it to others through her role as clinical lecturer with Stanford University in California.
Completing coursework at the prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, Ms. Taft holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco and a Master of Arts in counseling from Santa Clara University in California. In order to stay abreast of changes in the field, she affiliated herself with the Santa Clara County Continuity of Care, the American Public Health Association, the California and American Associations for Continuity of Care and the Gerontology Society of America. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Taft has co-authored "Counselor Desk Reference," "Senior Health Insurance Manual" and "Discharge Planning Guide for Nurses."
Outside of her professional path, Ms. Taft gave back to those less fortunate through the Hospice Ministry of the Mid-Peninsula. For her outstanding achievements, she was honored on a number of occasions, earning features in the fourth and fifth editions of Who's Who in American Nursing. In the coming years, Ms. Taft intends to continue enjoying her retirement.
