Prior to attaining this role, he was active as a computer operator with Sage Computer Services from 1989 to 1995. Mr. Powell began his career as a clerk with Premier Screening from 1987 to 1989.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Powell is a founding member and a past treasurer of the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Portage County, Ohio. Maintaining his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus, he has also been incredibly active with the President's Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities. Inspired to pursue his career and work with those suffering from mental illness due to his own disability, Mr. Powell notably earned a Bachelor of Science from Kent State University in Ohio in 1980.

An Ohio candidate for the President's Trophy in 1992, he was presented with an Award of Excellence from the Ohio Rehabilitation Association in 1989 and 1990. Honored as the International Man of the Year from 1992 to 1993, Mr. Powell has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
