Barbara Randall Clark Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ORANGEBURG, SC, April 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Barbara Randall Clark with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Clark celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. After graduating from Morgan State College (now University), she worked as a research chemist for the National Institutes of Health (Baltimore Branch) from 1959 to 1966 (7 years). Marriage in 1966, took her to Orangeburg, SC, where she taught chemistry at South Carolina State College (now University) from 1966-1967. She and her spouse, Carl Oliver Clark (PhD/Physics) (deceased) were parents to two children, Bobby (born 1967) and Angela (born 1969).

As she pursued her Master's degree, she gained valuable expertise with Orangeburg School District 5 as a testing evaluator and later at Belleville Junior High School as an In-School Suspension Director and Counselor. In 1977, she began work at Claflin University as an instructor/administrator (7 years) and in 1984, to Orangeburg School District One (Norway Junior High School) as a teacher of science and mathematics, then as a counselor, a business coordinator and editor. In 1990, she was hired in Orangeburg School District 5 as the second counselor at both Marshall and Nix Elementary Schools for three years and at Nix as the sole counselor for seven additional years. After working in the education industry for more than 30 years, Mrs. Clark retired in 2000. In a career filled with highlights, Mrs. Clark holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry and mathematics from Morgan State University and a Masters of Education from South Carolina State University then pursued 30 plus hours of postgraduate coursework for a Specialist degree. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she maintained affiliation with the South Carolina and National Counselors Associations as an emeritus member.

She was inducted into the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1956 and has held the office of president and vice president among other offices in the Sorority. She is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and was honored as one of the 75 Delta Diamonds in 1988 in California. She has been a Notary for more than 30 years. Mrs. Clark has authored at lease fourteen books, including "Reflections," "Pieces," "Impressions," "Alabama Angel," "Snippets," "If You Can Read," "Soul," "Jump Start" and "Beams and Bits." She has contributed to her community through Meals on Wheels, tutoring (reading) and the Board of the Orangeburg Literary Council, the Orangeburg Disabilities and Special Needs Foundation Board and the committee of Friends of SCSU Museum. She served on the Board of Edisto Habitat for Humanity (8 years) and continues to volunteer and makes curtains for the houses that are built. For 22 years, she has served as a Mentor for elementary and middle school students. Mrs. Clark was featured in the 25th edition of Who's Who of American Women and was also named South Carolina Counselor of the Year in 1993. In 2002, she was one of 10 poets invited to read her poetry at Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, sc. She keeps busy writing and enjoys her retirement-giving back to others.
