After accruing more than 45 years of practiced experience, Mr. Simpson retired from his role as chair emeritus of A.M. Castle & Company in 2012, where he previously served as chair of the board, a director, vice president of the Midwestern region, and president of the Hy-Alloy Steels Company Division. Over the years, he also gained valuable expertise in his field through the Metal Service Center Institute as chair of the executive committee. At the inception of his career, he was honored to serve with the United States Marine Corps Reserve for six years prior to serving as a product manager for Armour & Company in Chicago, IL, from 1966 to 1968.
A diligent and dedicated professional, Mr. Simpson holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration one year later. In his retirement, he lends his time to Rush University Medical Center as a lifetime trustee. Previously, he maintained executive roles with the Lake Forest Hospital Foundation on their board of directors, Rush University as chair of the board of overseers, and Oldfields School as a trustee and board chair.
In light of his work in the field, Mr. Simpson was featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. Looking forward, Mr. Simpson intends to continue giving back through the Rush University Medical Center. In addition, he enjoys lending his time to breeding thoroughbred horses, an enterprise he has maintained since 1978.
