Supported by many years of practiced legal experience, Mr. Suhr serves as a partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in the Firm's Charlotte office, where he specializes in representing clients in commercial real estate and leasing transactions and also banking institutions, funds and other capital markets lenders in real estate finance, mezzanine finance and equity investment transactions. Mr. Suhr's practice also includes representing mortgage loan sellers, purchasers and servicers in commercial loan transactions, including loan assumptions, transfer consents, partial releases and defeasances. Mr. Suhr acts as North Carolina local counsel to out-of-state banking institutions, real estate investment funds and other purchasers, and has provided legal services in many complex real estate acquisitions and development deals, including air rights developments. A dedicated and diligent professional, Mr. Suhr also assists clients selling, purchasing, managing and servicing real estate whole loans, A/B notes and participation interests in the distressed asset and debt markets.
A past board of directors member of the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation from 2009 to 2012 and currently active in the Mecklenburg County Bar. Mr. Suhr holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from American University Washington College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. He has been admitted to practice law in New York and North Carolina, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina. As such, in an effort to remain abreast of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the New York, North Carolina and American Bar Associations. In his spare time, he gives back to his community through Habitat for Humanity, Charlotte. For more than 10 years, Mr. Suhr has assisted Habitat in property builds and as counsel for property purchases for Habitat's participants.
