Mr. Brog is a retired U.S. Air Force officer and consultant who spent 26 years in the military. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1955, he advanced to the rank of Colonel by 1978. He served as the Director of Readiness and Electronic Combat at the U.S. Air Force headquarters in Europe beginning in 1981 and served as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations for Command Control and Communications Countermeasures until 1982 when he retired. Mr. Brog then began a second career, as a civilian, as the president of International Research and Development, Inc., as a domestic and international consultant on defense issues based in Silver Spring, MD. He maintained his business until 2010.
Mr. Brog was in the Air Force ROTC at the University of Pittsburgh and received his commission in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation in 1955. In 1956, he began active duty and entered flying school. This was followed by many great assignments. Deciding to stay in the military, he spent a great deal of time on assignments in the Pentagon at Air Force Headquarters working with operational Air Force related issues and NATO. Mr. Brog had numerous encounters with the Israeli Air Force, the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency regarding missions during his career. He also served nine months of combat flying the Wild Weasel mission in Vietnam. In honor of his service, he received two Legions of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Mr. Brog has contributed articles to various professional journals. He is a member and past president of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association and a member of the Association of Old Crows and the Air Force Association. He has also been a longtime executive director of the Air Warrior Courage Foundation, a non-profit organization formed by military aviators, since 1998.
A Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air War College, Mr. Brog has since been cited in dozens of editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. He has notably held a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh since 1955 and a Master of Science from the University of Southern California since 1967. Married to the late Verda Anna Raney for more than 50 years, Mr. Brog has two children and four grandchildren.
