Over the years, Ms. Petree has found success in a number of positions at the Stanford University Hospital, including as a head nurse, clinical nursing coordinator and staff nurse. At the beginning of her career, she worked as a staff nurse at the Children's Hospital in San Francisco.
An expert in her field, Ms. Petree initially pursued an education at Children's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with a diploma. She continued her studies at the University of Redlands, earning a Bachelor of Arts. Ms. Petree concluded her academic efforts with a Master of Arts at the University of Redlands.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Petree is affiliated with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses, as well as the California Perinatal Association. Ms. Petree was voted as Stanford University Hospital's Thomas A. Gonda Employee of the Year in 1981. In 1986, she was presented with the North California Nurse of the Year Award from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses. She currently continues her contributions as a member of several committees that focus on community obstetric health.
