In addition to multiple publications on the phenomena of explosives Dr. John Barada Ramsay has published on the geochemistry of the Arabian Peninsula and the history of New Mexico.

In addition, he is most proud to have had the opportunity to conduct fundamental studies on the initiation of explosives. Dr. Ramsay has also contributed to the advancement of his field as the author of countless science and historical articles for professional journals.
As a respected research scientist, Dr. Ramsay's accomplishments in his field have earned him recognition and praise. He took a mid-career break and became an Associate Professor of Chemistry in Saudi Arabia and then returned to his position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He received two Awards of Excellence from the United States Department of Energy as well as an Outstanding Service Award. Since his formal retirement he has remained as a consultant in his field and became active in outside fields. The Historical Society of New Mexico attracted his attention and he was awarded for Outstanding Service to the Society. In addition to multiple publications on the phenomena of explosives he has published on the geochemistry of the Arabian Peninsula and the history of New Mexico.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Ramsay earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin, where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in analytical chemistry. Later on, Dr. Ramsay spent time as a research associate in history with the Museum of New Mexico.
