Mr. Kok is a consulting engineer who has devoted the last 68 years to his field. An expert in structural engineering, the majority of his career has been spent working in New York City. Beginning his career with Lummus Company as a design engineer, he was soon after hired by M.H. Treadwell Company in 1953, where he remained for 30 years. Taken on board as a structural engineer, he later served as head of the structural engineering section, chief structural engineer, manager of the plant design division, and assistant vice president and vice president. The organization notably designs, develops and manufactures oxygen generation equipment in the United States.
A former chair of the Council of Engineering Laws executive committee, Mr. Kok has also been active in the field by authoring numerous articles to various professional and peer-reviewed journals. An elected fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Mr. Kok is also a longtime member and former chair of the materials handling committee of the Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, the American Institute of Mining, the American Mining Congress and the American Management Association as well.
Receiving a First Place Award from the James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation in 1966, Mr. Kok has since been cited in approximately 35 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
Mr. Kok became interested in engineering as a child while growing up on a farm. Once entering college, he studied at Suderburg Engineering College from 1940 to 1942, then the Hamburg Engineering College from 1945 to 1946. In 1950, he received a diploma in engineering at RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany. He made his way to the United States in 1951 and since became a registered professional engineer in New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, California, Florida, New Jersey, Arizona and Maryland. Marrying his wife Roselle V. Venier in 1960, Mr. Kok has two children and two grandchildren.
