Mr. Simon is a former support software and multiple service tactical system program manager for Sperry Univac, the Unisys Corp., Loral Space & Communications Inc. and the Lockheed Martin Corp. A tenured-information-technology professional of close to 40 years, he retired in 2002. Mr. Simon also held other roles including support software program manager, United States Marine Corps program manager, and program and software engineer, dating back to 1966.
Several years after retiring as a senior program manager, Mr. Simon became a partner during 2005 - 2016 in the building of Farmington Mini Storage LLC, a 65.000 square foot storage facility. He currently serves as a consultant for the organization and is a part-time business development specialist at Sierra Cybernetics Inc., a small engineering firm in California. Mr. Simon formerly consulted for Sierra Cybernetics Inc. during 2003 - 2018.
Active in his community as well, Mr. Simon served on the Empire Township board of supervisors for six years between 1980 and 1986. He also lent his expertise on the Minnesota Metropolitan Council Committee's advisory board, and served as secretary-treasurer of the Corinthian Cemetery Board in Farmington. He was on the board of directors of the Farmington Youth Hockey Board, was a youth hockey coach and manager, and was a youth baseball coach in Farmington. Mr. Simon is a longtime member of the Masons. Mr. Simon was also on the ski racing team from Welch Village, which won the 1999 NASTAR National Championship Team event.
Honored for both his career and community work over the years, Mr. Simon has received recognition from the Empire Township board of supervisors for his service. He has also been celebrated for his over two decades of work with the United States Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command. In light of all his accomplishments, Mr. Simon has previously been cited in the first edition of Who's Who in Media and Communications 1998.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Simon pursued a formal education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, with a minor in physics, in 1965. Happily married to his wife, Donna Faye Gjermo since 1965; they currently reside in Farmington, Minnesota. Furthermore, Mr. Simon is the proud father of four married children and grandfather to eleven wonderful grandchildren.
