With experience dating back to 1968, Mr. Dunham is highly regarded in his industry for his work in his professional community. Notably, he served as the chairman of the committee on insurance within the section of administrative law of the American Bar Association, member the committee on insurance for the New York City Bar Association, member of the board of governors for the Association of Life Insurance and director of the New York City chapter of the Harvard Law School Association.
To share his legal expertise, Mr. Dunham co-authored Insurance M&A published by Debevoise & Plimpton beginning in 1997. He has contributed articles to professional journals throughout his career, served as a general editor and chapter author for New York Insurance Law (Matthew Bender), and organized and chaired insurance industry programs for the Practising Law Institute. He was the recipient of a Servant Justice Award in 2011 from the Episcopal Bishop of New York and a Buist M. Anderson Distinguished Service Award in 2012 from the Association of Life Insurance Counsel. When asked of his success, Mr. Dunham credits the public service example of his parents and his education that served as strong foundations of his accomplishments. A graduate of Harvard University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts, in Economics, magna cum laude, in 1965, followed by a Bachelor of Laws, cum laude, in 1968. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1969.
An active member of his community, Mr. Dunham is known locally for his work with organizations including Terrafirma Risk Retention Group LLC , the Union Theological Seminary of the City of New York (Board Chair since 2012), the New York State Commission to Modernize the Regulation of Financial Services (Executive Director 1972), St. James' Church in the City of New York (Vestry member since 1987; Senior Warden (1993-2018), and the Shekomeko Valley Farm Association, among others. In the next chapter of his career, Mr. Dunnam intends to continue in his outstanding work as an insurance lawyer while taking on new opportunities as they occur.
