After accruing more than four decades of practiced industry experience in the field of finance, Mr. McDonald retired from his role as director, senior vice president and trustee with Space Center, Inc., in Saint Paul, MN, in 2004 after serving 27 years in those roles. At the inception of his career, he joined First National Bank of Saint Paul as vice president in 1960, holding the position for 17 years.
Over the years, Mr. McDonald also gained additional experience in banking and finance with the Minnesota State Board of Investment, the Firstar Bank of Minnesota and Scherer Brothers Lumber Company. Today, he sits as a member of the advisory board of Sherbrooke Capital and on the board of directors for HMN Financial, Inc. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he notes that being recognized by the Informal Club for outstanding service to the community in 2019 was a crowning achievement.
A member of the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce, from whom he received numerous Bravo Awards, and a fellow of Phi Beta Kappa, Mr. McDonald holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Yale College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. In his spare time, he contributes to his community as a trustee emeritus with the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation and the Minnesota State Fair Foundation, trustee of Way to Grow, and vice president of the Grotto Foundation. Additionally, he is an emeritus board member with the Minnesota Historical Society.
In light of his outstanding work in the field, Mr. McDonald was featured in such professional publications as Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
