Graduating from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, with a Bachelor of Arts in 1960, Dr. Vunderink continued his academic efforts with a Bachelor of Divinity from the Calvin Theological Seminary in 1963. He concluded his studies at the University of Chicago, earning a Master of Arts in 1965 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1969. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Vunderink began his career as a lay minister for the Classis Lake Erie in Eastern Michigan and Ohio from 1968 to 1975.
Soon thereafter, Dr. Vunderink served as a professor of religion for Hope College in Holland, MI, and Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, OH, between 1975 and 1987, while simultaneously working as a pastor in the Bloom Center Church of God in Cygnet, OH, from 1985 to 1987. In 1986, he was ordained to the ministry at the Christian Reformed Church. Dr. Vunderink has found success as a freelance writer and an editor in Jenison, MI, since 1985, as well as a part-time professor of Latin with Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, since 2015, working on an inclusive text on the grammar and culture of historic Latin.
Throughout his career, Dr. Vunderink further excelled as an editorial assistant for the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, a co-editor for the Eerdmans Bible Dictionary, and a translator for "A Brief Commentary on Zechariah." A member of the American Philosophical Association, he maintained affiliation with the American Academy of Religion and the Calvinistic Philosophical Society. As a testament to his success, Dr. Vunderink has been selected for inclusion in editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Religion, and Who's Who in the Midwest.
