Although he had considerable experience in the aerospace industry, Mr. Attiyeh most recently was the senior vice president of finance and corporate development and the chief financial officer for Amgen, Inc. in Thousand Oaks, CA, from 1994 to 1998. He notably began his career at Space Technology Laboratories and TRW Electronics in El Segundo, CA, from 1961 to 1967. Subsequently, Mr. Attiyeh was a director of McKinsey & Company in Los Angeles, Osaka and Copenhagen from 1967 to 1994, where he conducted qualitative and quantitative analysis in support of client operations and strategy.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Mr. Attiyeh pursued a formal education at Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1956. Immediately following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for three years, where he completed service on a destroyer, the USS Barry DD 933, with the Atlantic and Sixth Fleets. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Attiyeh continued his academic efforts at Harvard University, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration in 1961.
In his local community, Mr. Attiyeh has been active as the president and chairman of the board for the Los Angeles Natural History Museum from 1990 to 1996 and the chairman of the board for the House Ear Institute from 1991 to 1996. Additionally, he contributed as the president and the chairman of the board for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association from 1994 to 1999. He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 1997 to 2002, and was affiliated with the California Club in Los Angeles. Moreover, Mr. Attiyeh has authored numerous articles published in esteemed professional journals.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Attiyeh was selected for inclusion in the 27th edition of Who's Who in the West. Now in retirement, he resides in Los Angeles with his wife of 55 years, Linda Helen Harden, with whom he has raised two children, Robert and Jenny. In his spare time, Mr. Attiyeh enjoys ranching, restoring and preserving historical properties and open space, and reading.
