Aside from his research, Dr. Franklin M. Harold found much success in various academic and research positions
SEATTLE, WA, May 29, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Franklin M. Harold with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Franklin M. Harold celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Born in Germany and raised in the Middle East, Dr. Harold provides the insight and influence of some of the field's greatest leaders to his work in biochemistry and microbiology. His interest in the sciences was inspired by several mentors who shaped his curiosity in the subject. As a child, he was largely self-educated from old science textbooks which were bestowed to him by a German science teacher. As a graduate student, he was influenced by microbiologist Roger Stanier, who taught him to study mircobiology in order to understand life itself. Finally, his knowledge was fostered by Nobel prize winner Peter Mitchell, who developed a revolutionary theory about the mechanisms of bio-energetics called the Chemiosmotic Theory. Dr. Harold spent much of his studies collecting data to ultimately prove Dr. Mitchell's theory, which he believes is one of his most important contributions to the field of biochemistry.
Aside from his research, Dr. Harold found much success in various academic and research positions at the National Jewish Hospital and Research Center in Denver, Colorado and at the University of Colorado Medical School. Subsequently, he retired as a professor emeritus of biochemistry and molecular biology at Colorado State University. Dr. Harold also briefly served as a visiting fellow at Australian National University in Canberra, Australia and as a Fulbright fellow in Tehran, Iran.
In addition, Dr. Harold has contributed his expertise as a prolific writer. He has notably authored "The Vital Force: A Study of Bioenergetics," "The Way of the Cell: Molecules, Organisms and the Order of Life," "In Search of Cell History: The Evolution of Life's Building Blocks," and "To Make the World Intelligible: A Scientist's Journey." Prior to embarking on his professional path, he earned a Bachelor of Science from the City College of New York and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley. He was also presented with an honorary Doctor of Natural Sciences from the University of Osnabrück in Germany. In order to remain abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Harold maintains affiliation with the American Society of Biological Chemists and the American Society of Microbiology.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Franklin M. Harold has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
