George Koudelka Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

George Koudelka was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and recognized by the Texas Czech Heritage Culture Center for a lifetime of achievement in education and Czech music.

An accomplished listee, Mr. Koudelka celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Koudelka began his career as an instructor in percussion and music with Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX from 1967 to 1969. During this time, he pursued a Bachelor of Music Education from the aforementioned university in 1968. He further accepted the post of the director of bands and music with the Flatonia Independent School District between 1969 and 1982, while simultaneously earning a Master of Education from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University in Texas in 1972. Mr. Koudelka later excelled as the director of bands and music with Moulton Independent School District from 1982 until his retirement in 1998.

Outside of his primary responsibilities, Mr. Koudelka served as a lecturer for the Czech Music Symposium at the University of Texas in 2000 as well as lecturer for numerous area chapters of the Texas Czech Heritage Society. His involvement in the Parent-Teacher Association in Flatonia, TX, earned him the honor of Honorary Life Membership in the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers in 1977. Mr. Koudelka is currently a member of the Donnie Wavra Orchestra, the Texas Travelers Orchestra, and the Round Top Brass Band of which he was a co-founder in 1971. He has been a member of the Knights of Dixie Orchestra, the Gil Baca Orchestra, and the Adolph Hofner Orchestra of San Antonio. An expert in his field, he contributed heavily to the book "A Passion for Polka," in 1992 and was invited to write a special feature article on Texas Music History in a Church Cookbook published in 1985. A member of the Texas Music Educators Association, as well as a Church Cookbook published in 1985. A member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Mr. Koudelka has also been affiliated with the National Music Educators Association, and is an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1997, Mr. Koudelka was selected to serve on the Czech Community Advisory Committee at the Institute of Texas Cultures in San Antonio, TX.

For his hard work and dedication, Mr. Koudelka was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and recognized by the Texas Czech Heritage Culture Center for a lifetime of achievement in education and Czech music. Additionally, he was featured in the documentary film "Preservation of Old Texas Dance Halls."

A testament to his success, Mr. Koudelka was honored as the Flatonia Citizen of the Year in 2000. In a career filled with highlights, he was proud to have performed at the Inauguration of President Lyndon B. Johnson in Washington D.C. during 1965 as the leader for the drum section at Southwest Texas State University. He was additionally featured playing drums on the Gold Records' recording of the president marches which featured his band. Outside of his career, Mr. Koudelka enjoys collecting old phonograph records, philately, collecting old books, and collecting comic strips in his spare time.
