After accruing 45 years of professional excellence in law, Mr. Englert retired from his solo practice in Washington, DC, in 1996, a role he held for 23 years. Before starting in law, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve, participating in the D-Day invasion at Normandy between 1943 and 1946. He joined the United States. Treasury Department in 1951, serving as assistant counsel and chief counsel for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and later as assistant general counsel and deputy general counsel of the Treasury Department. Over the years, he also gained valuable expertise through his work with Walker/Potter Associates, the Department of State and the U.S. Assay Commission.
An expert in his field, Mr. Englert holds a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Columbia University and a Master of Laws from George Washington University. To remain abreast of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the Tennessee and American Bar Associations. When he was not working, he contributed his time to his community through the Atlanta Olympics and the Westminster Lake Ridge Retirement Community.
In light of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Englert won the Exceptional Service Award and the General Counsel's Award from the U.S. Treasury, as well as features in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the World.
