Supported by years of professional experience, Ms. Hart has excelled as a municipal administrator for over four decades. She began her career as an employee with Harts Sporting Goods in Costa Mesa, California, between 1961 and 1980. Subsequently, she served as the mayor of the Newport Beach City Council from 1982 to 1984, further progressing to the president of the Orange County division of the League of California Cities in Santa Ana from 1985 to 1986. Ms. Hart has found further success as the state league director for the Orange County division of the League of California Cities.
Civically, Ms. Hart has been involved with the YMCA Family Crisis Center, the Braille Institute, and the Youth Employment Program of Orange County since 1979. Additionally, she worked on the California Board of Behavioral Science and was a founding member of the Newport Animal Shelter. She also served four years on the California State Water Control Board, 5th District and ten years on the Orange County Selective Service Board. As a testament to her success, Ms. Hart was a recipient of the YMCA Reach Out Award, the YMCA-Orange County Award and the Protector of the Coast Award in 1987, as well as the Sunshine Award in 2010 and the Newport Citizen of the Year Award in 2011.
The highlight of Ms. Hart's career was being named Citizen of the Year by Newport Beach. She was deeply thrilled and felt incredibly honored. Furthermore, while she served 16 years on the city council she tried to save any open space and convinced the council to protect the great views of the city and not allow buildings to block the views. For her accomplishments, she has previously been selected for inclusion in Who's Who of American Women. Outside of her career, Ms. Hart enjoys boating, gardening, playing bridge and reading in her spare time.
