Drawing upon nearly 30 years of professional excellence in applied physiology of the upper aerodigestive tract., Dr. Arnold has been serving as the Chief Clinical Officer of Southeastern Biocommunication Associates, LLC since 2010, where he diagnoses and treats patients who have physiological disorders of the upper aerodigestive tract including but not limited to swallow, voice, cough, reflux, resonance, and breathing disorders. Prior to this role, he served as the Director of Swallow and Voice Services from 1995 to 2010 as well as the Vice President of Clinical Services from 1995 to 1998 for Restore Therapy Services, Ltd. From 1991 to 1995 while employed as a Speech-Language Pathologist for NovaCare in Birmingham, he developed a portable endoscopy service for evaluating swallow disorders. Dr. Arnold commenced his career as a staff Speech-Language Pathologist for New Medico Rehabilitation Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1990.
An author of continuing education workshops in the field of Medical Speech Pathology offered across the United States of America and Canada, Dr. Arnold is a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders by the American Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Philosophy in 1988 as well as a Master of Science In Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1990 from the University of Mississippi. After the Inception of his career, he earned his Paramedic from the University of Alabama at Birmingham In 1994 and a Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2010.
Among his notable accomplishments, Dr. Arnold is most renowned for the development of an endoscopy based differential diagnostic algorithm for diagnosing physiological disorder of the upper aerodigestive tract called Comprehensive Swallow-Voice Assessment which combines 10 different procedures Into a single exam to provide a holistic snapshot of the physiology of the upper aerodigestive tract from mouth to stomach. In addition, he Is a pioneer for the use of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy as an adjunctive treatment in the management of swallow and voice disorders and is recognized for his patent of the Oromotor Dynamometer.
A member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Speech & Hearing Association of Alabama, the Voice Foundation, and the Dysphagia Research Society, where he is an associate member, Dr. Arnold has accrued numerous accolades and honors due to his contributions to the industry. The recipient of numerous ACE awards from the American Speech-¬Language-Hearing Association, he also twice received the Distinguished Clinical Achievement Award from the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama in 1995 and in 2010. Likewise, Dr. Arnold was a NovaCare grantee in 1991 and 1992.
The proud father of one child, Dr. Arnold enjoys composing and playing music, sailing, and flying in his spare time. Notably, he was highlighted in the second edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, which was published in 1998.
