Bonnie Jean Vokits published her first Christian non-fiction book of the story of her life, titled "MY JOURNEY TO EPHPHATHA/Discovering Ways God Guides Us to Our Purpose."

Prior to entering college after staying at home to raise her five children, she began her career in the Muskegon Public Schools in a number of roles, including substitute paraprofessional aide, interpreter for Deaf, and eventually a substitute teacher. During this time while working with Deaf students, she also became a leader in Deaf ministry at a Lutheran Church in Muskegon. While working on her bachelor's degree in psychology Bonnie interned with a PhD Psychologist at the Regional Center for Developmentally Disabled. She also worked at Every Woman's Place with the children and mothers who had been abused. Her social work masters degree internship was completed at a psychiatric ward at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon.
Upon earning her Master Degree in Social work, Bonnie was hired immediately by Mercy Stress Management where she utilized Mind/Body/ and Spirit to help those with anxiety, depression, and trauma's. She also served as a family counselor for the Muskegon Circuit Court. Eventually she accepted a job in Grand Rapids, MI to work with mentally ill Deaf. Even though her career had been filled with highlights, Bonnie is proud of being able to return to college with her family support after she had stayed home for 17 years to care for her five children. She also feels blessed that she and her husband were sent to Jamaica on a mission trip to help 150 Deaf kids and to repair damages to their homes.
An expert in her field, Mrs. Vokits holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Muskegon Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. Bonnie is now retired but is affiliated with the National Association of Social Worker, and community networking agencies as well as the Disability League of Justice of West Michigan. In her free time, she loves to research family genealogy. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, she published her first Christian non-fiction book of the story of her life, titled "MY JOURNEY TO EPHPHATHA/ Discovering Ways God Guides Us to Our Purpose." As part of her professional accomplishments, she was honored in the top 5 finalists at the Indie Book Awards in 2018 and was also featured in the Who's Who in the Midwest. Looking ahead, Mrs. Vokits intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career.
