Dr. Kalamotousakis is a retired economist, merchant banker and educator. Beginning his career in 1958 as an instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, he later taught at Ithaca College in New York and Washington Square College at New York University. He also taught as a professor of finance in the graduate school of business at New York University. Early on, he was a chief economist for Brown Engineer in New York City between 1963 and 1964. Dr. Kalamotousakis soon after served as an economic consultant for the New York State Office of Regional Development in Albany from 1964 and 1966, an advisory economist for IBM in Armonk, New York, for four years beginning in 1969 and an international economist for American Standard Inc. in New York City for three years beginning in 1973.
Involved with several banks and other organizations, Dr. Kalamotousakis was an external director for Rank-Xerox in Greece, the director of economic research for the Bank of Greece, a member of the Athens board of directors for the Egyptian American Bank in Cairo and served in various roles with the American Express National Bank in New York City. He also spent time as a visiting professor with the University of Maryland University College Europe. Locally, Dr. Kalamotousakis served on the board of directors and as trustee of the Hellenic Theatre Foundation and on the board of the University of the Aegean in Greece.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Kalamotousakis is an accomplished writer in his field. Writing extensively, he has authored books on such topics as, international finance, Cyprus and self-determination, the common market, and the economic development of Greece. He has also contributed a number of articles to professional journals throughout his career. In light of all his accomplishment, Dr. Kalamotousakis was recognized as a Ford Foundation faculty research fellow in 1962 and has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
Born in Chios, Greece, Dr. Kalamotousakis made his way to the United States in 1953 and quickly enrolled at the City University of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1956 and a Master of Arts in 1958. Transferring to New York University to complete his studies, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in 1966. A member and a past vice president of the American Association of University Professors, Dr. Kalamotousakis also maintains affiliation with the American Economic Association and Omicron Delta Epsilon in order to keep abreast of developments in his field.
