STATE COLLEGE, PA, June 03, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gary L. Catchen, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Catchen celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Catchen initially earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University in 1971, going on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Columbia University in 1979. Passionate about education, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in German from Pennsylvania State University in 2000. After commencing his career as a research chemist at Conoco, Inc., in Ponca City, OK, where he worked from 1979 to 1982, Dr. Catchen went on to work for Pennsylvania State University as assistant professor in the department of nuclear engineering, associate professor and full professor, retiring in 2013 and being granted the title of professor emeritus.
In addition to his work in academia, Dr. Catchen served with the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. He worked in an army hospital for three years, driven by a lifelong interest in science, and later benefited from the G.I. Bill in his work as a chemist. Though his career contains numerous accomplishments, Dr. Catchen is particularly proud of a research program he developed over the course of five years. Impressively, he learned German in order to promote this research abroad.
Interested in remaining abreast of industry developments, Dr. Catchen belongs to the American Chemical Society and the American Physical Society. He also maintains membership with the American Association of University Professors. Owing to his notable accomplishments within his field, Dr. Catchen was honored in the first and eighth editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Catchen has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
