NEW YORK, NY, June 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lucy Rosenthal with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Rosenthal celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Lucy Rosenthal's professional achievements have been in the intertwined fields of writing, education, and editing. She has been engaged with writers and writing in all phases of her career.

Ms. Rosenthal is the author of two critically acclaimed novels, entitled "The Ticket Out" (1983) and "The World of Rae English,"(2014). She has edited several anthologies as well, including "Great American Love Stories" (1988), "World Treasury of Love Stories" (1995) and "The Eloquent Short Story: Varieties of Narration" (2014). Her reviews and articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Ms Magazine, Saturday Review, Michigan Quarterly among others. Two of her plays were produced at the Eugene O'Neil Memorial Theater in 1966, 1967.

Ms. Rosenthal's thirty years as an educator were spent mainly at Sarah Lawrence College, on the faculty of its noted creative writing program (1988-2016), teaching on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She joined the college as guest faculty in 1988, became a member of the regular writing faculty in 1996; she was awarded tenure in 2001. In 2016 she stepped down in order to write full time and is now among the writing department's Emeriti faculty. She has taught in the writing programs of New York University (1986-1994) and Columbia University (1990-1997) as well. She has brought to her teaching the perspective and skills of an experienced editor and critic, acquired during a long career in book publishing.

Ms. Rosenthal's positions in the publishing industry include fourteen years at the Book-of-the-Month Club (1973-1987), initially as an editor. In 1974 she was appointed to the club's influential Editorial Board of Judges, becoming the third woman to serve on that board in the club's then-fifty-year history. The judges' function was choose the Club's monthly Selection to offer to its vast membership of subscribers. As the first market judgment for a book, the selection had major impact. This imprimatur–Book-of-the-Month Selection–was key to a book's launching and integral to its success. Ms. Rosenthal saw her own role on the Board as including advocacy of books by women, especially those issuing from the burgeoning woman's movement of the seventies; and to track emerging younger writers as well. From 1979-1987 Ms. Rosenthal served as the Club's Senior Editorial Advisor.

From 1957 to 1973, she worked as a freelance editorial consultant for various book publishing houses (hardcover and paperback) and literary agents.

She was a member of the 1980 Pulitzer prize biography jury, served on the board of the American Book Awards (1980-1981), and on the admissions committee of the University of Iowa Writers Workshop where she also studied (1965-68).

Ms. Rosenthal is a recipient of a Pulitzer Fellowship in Critical Writing (1968), a University of Michigan undergraduate Hopwood Award, and several residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She is a member of PEN American Center, the Authors Guild and the Authors League, the Women's Media Group (board member 1979-1981), Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1954, Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University in 1955, and a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama in 1961.

Ms. Rosenthal has since been cited in approximately 55 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Lucy Rosenthal has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
