Prior to joining Western Michigan University in 1996, Dr. Fleming excelled as a group leader with GenCorp Technology Center from 1986 -1996. From 1974 – 1986, Dr. Fleming found success through his efforts as a senior research specialist with Phillips Petroleum Research. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral research assistant for Brown University (1971-1974) and Columbia University (1970-1971).
A hard-working and dedicated professional, Dr. Fleming initially earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the Ohio State University. He concluded his studies at Harvard University, graduating with a Master of Arts in physics and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical physics. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Fleming is affiliated with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Physical Society and the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts.
Utilizing his considerable knowledge, Dr. Fleming has contributed his research to more than 350 publications, including Molecular Theory of Surface Tension", "Lateral Paper Web Position During Commercial Heat Set Web Offset Printing," "A New Attempt to Reconcile the Statistical and Phenomenological Theories of Rubber Elasticity," "Toward a Molecular Equation of State for Real Materials" and "Resonant Transport Coefficients of Polyatomic Gases in Oscillating Magnetic Fields." Along with a number of other scholars, he has authored myriad articles for the Journal of Chemical Physics, the Journal of Solution Chemistry, the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science and the American Institute of Chemical Engineering Journal, among others. Looking toward the future, Dr. Fleming intends to experience continued success in his career and research.
