Prior to this appointment, he briefly served as an assistant to the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bandung in Indonesia and an assistant to the provincial at the Order of the Holy Cross in Bandung, Indonesia, between 1975 and 1980. Earlier in his career, he contributed as a philosophy docent with Padjadjaran University in Bandung and a professor at Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung from 1968 to 1979.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Haryono pursued a formal education. A graduate of Roosevelt University in Brussels, Belgium, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in 1980 and a Doctor of Divinity in 1981. Other career-related endeavors to his credit include working as a private religious consultant since 2001, serving as the director for USA Today in Glendale, California, between 1985 and 1990, and contributing as a chaplain in West Java, Indonesia, from 1974 to 1979. Civically, Dr. Haryono has been involved with the Lumen Christi Institute and has served as the director of religious education with the Indonesian community within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Additionally, he is a former Indonesian National Armed Forces lieutenant and chaplain, having served between 1972 and 1979.
A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Haryono's book "Was Mary Also Redeemed?" was published in 1989. He has also contributed multiple articles to prestigious religious publications. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he has been the recipient of numerous accolades. Dr. Haryono was presented with two Moderator Awards in 1978 and 1979, as well as two Presidential Awards in 1973 and 1979, among other honors. Likewise, he was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling.
