With over two decades of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Lee has been a full professor in the department of medical science with the College of Medicine at Korea University in Seoul since 2015. First joining the university as an assistant professor in 2008, he worked as an associate professor from 2010 until he attained his current role. Prior to these academic positions, he was a medical physicist and clinical fellow in the department of radiation oncology at the Korea University Medical Center from 2003 to 2008. Earlier in his career, Dr. Lee cultivated his expertise through positions with the Yonsei Cancer Center, the Korea Cancer Center Hospital and the Asan Medical Center beginning in 1997.
Alongside his primary responsibilities, Dr. Lee has held a number of other roles with Korea University, including TF team member at Anam Hospital, professor in the bio-medical science program and professor with the BK21 Plus Project. Having contributed numerous articles to professional journals in his field, his most recent article, "Development of a Web-based Radiation Toxicity Prediction System using Metarule-guided Mining to Predict Radiation Pneumonitis and Esophagitis, JKPS in 2019. Furthermore, Dr. Lee presently serves as an editor for the Korean Radiosurgery Society and as a reviewer for the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, the Journal of the Korean Physical Society, the Science Citation Index and the Korean Society for Radiation Oncology.
The vice president of the Korean Radiosurgery Society since 2019, Dr. Lee has also been the president of the Korean Society of Medical Physicists for Radiosurgery and the Korean Society of Medical Physics since 2018. He has also been active with the Medical Big-data & AI Research Group and the Medical Particle Beam Research Group since 2017 and 2016, respectively. A corporate member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology since 2000, Dr. Lee has also maintained professional affiliation with the Korean Society for Radiation Oncology and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.
A two-time recipient of the Best Paper Award from The Korean Radiosurgery Society in 2018 and 2019, Dr. Lee has also received numerous accolades from the Korean Society of Medical Physics. These include an Award of Oral and Poster Exhibition, an Award of Poster Oral Presentation, two Awards of Oral Presentation and two Young Medical Physics Professor Awards. He has also been honored with the Korea Artificial Intelligence Prize from the International AI Competition, the Grand Prize at the Digital Healthcare Idea Competition in Korea and two Awards of Poster Exhibition from The Korean Society for Radiation Oncology. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in physics, Master of Arts in medical physics and Doctor of Philosophy in medical physics from Kyonggi University. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. Lee has previously been featured in the 31st through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World.
