With 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Yarbrough is currently retired, having most recently served as the public information director for Florida Gateway College in Lake City from 1998 to 2010. Prior to attaining this role, she was active as the public relations director for the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina, from 1994 to 1997. Excelling for several years as a public relations and marketing consultant in Atlanta, Ms. Yarbrough previously found success in marketing and public relations roles with the Future Aviation Professionals of America, TypoGraphics Atlanta, Northlake Typography and Graphic Arts, the Grizzard Communications Group and the Dental Specialty Group in Atlanta.
Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Yarbrough earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1971 and a Master of Science in public relations from Boston University in 1980. Following these accomplishments, she began her career as an interim editor and a research assistant at the Rehabilitation Research Institute in Gainesville from 1980 to 1981. In an effort to remain up to date with developments in her field, Ms. Yarbrough maintained affiliation with the Association of Florida Colleges, the Public Relations Society of America and the Association for Women in Communications.
The recipient of a number of honors and accolades over the years, Ms. Yarbrough accepted several Awards of Excellence from the institutional advancement commission of the Florida Association of Community Colleges for outstanding concept design and content between 2002 and 2003. Earlier in her career, she was presented with the Bernice McCullar Award for exemplary leadership by the Association for Women in Communications from 1990 to 1991. In light of all her accomplishments, Ms. Yarbrough has been featured in Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who of American Women.
