With nearly 50 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Woolsey has excelled at Technology for Communications International as the vice president of regulatory affairs since 2001, the vice president of programs since 1992 and the vice president of engineering since 1991. Prior to obtaining these posts, he worked for the aforementioned company as the director of research and development from 1988 to 1991, the director of strategic systems from 1983 to 1988, and a program manager from 1980 to 1983. Earlier in his career, Dr. Woolsey found success with Technology for Communications International as a manager of radio direction finding systems from 1975 to 1980 and a senior physicist from 1970 to 1975.
Dr. Woolsey initially pursued an education at California Institute of Technology, completing coursework from 1962 to 1964. He continued his studies at Stanford University, where obtained a Bachelor of Science, with distinction, in 1966. He then earned a Master of Science at Stanford University in 1967 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1970. He held a fellowship with the National Science Foundation from 1966 to 1970. To acquire more management experience, in 1982 Dr. Woolsey attended the Stanford Executive Institute for Management of High-Technology Companies.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Woolsey has been an active leader in his community. He was inducted into Sigma Xi and Phi Beta Kappa, and is a member of the Sequoia Yacht Club, the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, the South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition, the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley and The Stanford Club of Palo Alto. Moreover, Dr. Woolsey has served as the chair of the Los Altos Hill Community Relations Committee.
Throughout his career, Dr. Woolsey has been recognized for his contributions to his field, presenting papers at technical conferences and authoring chapters of handbooks. A life master of the American Contract Bridge League, he notably accepted the Los Altos Hills Volunteer Service Award. Likewise, Dr. Woolsey has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
