Allen Saeks has excelled as Senior Counsel with Stinson Leonard Street since 2011.
WAZATA, MN, June 12, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Allen Saeks with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Saeks celebrates many years of experience in the legal profession, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has obtained in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than 60 years of professional experience, Mr. Saeks has excelled as Senior Counsel with Stinson Leonard Street since 2011. Prior to that role, he worked with the law firm of Leonard Street and Deinard as a partner from 1964 to 2010 and as an associate from 1960 to 1963. Mr. Saeks began his career as an assistant United States attorney with the United States Department of Justice from 1956 to 1957, and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at the Pentagon prosecuting General Court Martial cases from 1957 to 1960.
Mr Saeks initially pursued his education at the University of Minnesota obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. He concluded his studies with a J.D. degree in 1956 (Order of The Coif and Law Review) also at the University of Minnesota, He has been admitted to practice law in the state of Minnesota, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Eighth, and Federal Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Moreover, Mr. Saeks has also been certified as a Senior Civil Trial Specialist.
In his legal career, more specifically, he persuaded the Minnesota Supreme Court to adopt in 1982 a unique and innovative way to increase access to justice for people living in poverty. This was by a state Supreme Court decision adopting the first statewide mandatory program known as Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts ("IOLTA"). In IOLTA, the interest earned on lawyer bank trust accounts accrues to programs supporting legal aid to the poor and to the disadvantaged. Such IOLTA programs have now been adopted in all 50 states and have so far generated for such purposes more than half a billion dollars nationally as of 2018.
A respected voice in his profession, Mr. Saeks has also been an active leader in his community. A Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, he is also a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Fund for the Legal Aid Society and past President of the Hennepin County Bar Association.
In addition to his having served as legal counsel in a large traditional law firm for 58 years, Mr. Saeks has recognized the need in the general community that there be more lawyers working in public interest and public service positions. In that regard, he has initiated a new, unique curriculum for third year law students at the University of Minnesota. Under this program, top law students are selected to serve as interns in public interest and public service organizations. If successful in passing the bar as lawyers after graduation, they are then guaranteed a permanent job at the going wage and with fringe benefits at the organization where they had interned the prior year.
Having recently retired from the law firm of Stinson Leonard Street, Mr. Saeks continues his practice of law for Allen I Saeks PA where he focuses his practice as an arbitrator or mediator of business disputes and provides consultation on civil litigation matters.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Allen Saeks has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
