His understanding of intellectual property law extends to a plethora of industries, including life sciences, biotechnology, packaging, complex machinery, medical devices, chemicals and pharmaceuticals
CHARLOTTE, NC, June 13, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paul Pedigo has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Prestigious factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For many years, Mr. Pedigo has excelled in intellectual property law and management via an eponymous law firm, where he has helped people protect their property in more than 70 countries. His understanding of intellectual property law extends to a plethora of industries, including life sciences, biotechnology, packaging, complex machinery, medical devices, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pedigo found much success through his work with Summa, Additon & Ashe, the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Solicitation Group, Leydig, Volt & Mayer, and Bell, Seltzer, Park & Gibson.
In addition to his firsthand knowledge of his field, Mr. Pedigo has earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, Philosophy and Anthropology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During his spare time, he has contributed to the less fortunate through the board of directors of the Mecklenburg County Bar from 2002 until 2005, and the Access to Justice Campaigns during the fundraisers in the early-2000s. Additionally, Mr. Pedigo worked as the family liaison for the Access to Justice Campaigns' Habitat for Humanity houses in the 1980s.
His avid advice for those who plan to enter the field of intellectual property law is to gain as broadly based an education as possible, well grounded in the arts, sciences, literature, and engineering. The same holds true for their legal education. As he explains, "The more a person learns to think like a lawyer, no matter the legal field, the more effective they will be practicing in intellectual property. It is the inventor who is the technical expert. It is the advertiser who understands brand awareness. It is the lawyer who knows patent and trademark law. The breadth of the lawyer's background, depth of curiosity, and quality of being a quick study of people and technologies provides the raw material to build effective IP protection."
Mr. Pedigo has written a number of significant patents, among them several in the field of poly (ethylene glycol) chemistry that have become blockbuster drugs earning over one billion dollars a year in annual sales, including one described in U.S. Patent No. 5,932,462, a pegylated alpha interferon sold under the brand name PEGASYS®, a trademark of Hoffman-LaRoche.
For his excellence in the law, Paul has been honored among the North Carolina Legal Elite on five occasions. Likewise, he has been recognized as an AV-Rated Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell since 2001. Paul has ongoing work providing high quality intellectual property expertise to his global as well as local clients. Known for his thoughtful, thorough and peer revered work, he has produced significant patents and trademarks that have protected properties of benefit to society. In addition, he will continue to participate in the community in which the firm is located and successfully manage what Loyola of Chicago School of Law Professor George Anastaplo called "that tension between the human being and the citizen of the world."
