Robert Dimond Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Robert Dimond has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the publishing industry

NAPLES, FL, June 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert Dimond with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Robert Dimond celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With 60 years of professional excellence in publishing behind him, Robert E. Dimond recently retired from his latest venture as president of R.E. Dimond & Associates, which was headquartered in Naples, Fl. for the past 15 years. Prior to heading up his own company, Mr. Dimond had dedicated his time and knowledge to positions with Intertec Publishing Co.'s Chicago Division, most recently as its General Manager.

During his decade-long career with Intertec (known as MacLean Hunter when he first joined it) Mr. Dimond oversaw the Mining and Construction Group of international magazines, which included titles such as Engineering & Mining Journal, International Construction, Concrete Products, Coal and Rock Products.

Earlier in his career Mr. Dimond was Managing Editor of NADA Magazine, out of Washington, D.C., a business magazine for the 40,000 automobile dealers in the U.S. Following that, he became editor and publisher of Business Products Magazine and the first publication for computer users in the industry, Infostems, while serving as vice president of Hitchcock Publishing, located in Wheaton, IL.

In the early 1980s, Mr. Dimond first consulted with, and then joined as a key executive of, a trade show group named COMDEX in Needham, MA to formulate plans for a new kind of industry exhibition. It would showcase business products for every segment of the industry, the first of its kind. He would be named the initial keynote speaker of COMDEX, which ultimately became the largest business exhibition in the world. But Mr. Dimond's first love was publishing, and he returned to it as publisher of a new publication dedicated to all buyers of telecommunications equipment -- Telecommunications Management.

As a child, Mr. Dimond was inspired by his father, who was a creative writer and designer of advertising. Growing up, Mr. Dimond began publishing his own version of a newspaper at the dining room table, writing about events happening in his family and about neighborhood events. He wanted to make his father proud.

Intent on becoming a journalist, Mr. Dimond carried his passion for writing into adulthood, pursuing a college degree from George Washington University in his hometown of Washington, D.C. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1961. During that same period, Mr. Dimond served first in the D.C. Air National Guard and later in the U.S. Air Force, for a total of eight years combined. He held the position of Information Officer of the 113th Tactical Fighter Wing, stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in D.C.

In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Dimond feels particularly proud of his ability to identify the different skills and qualities needed in prospective employees. His instincts served him well over the years as his hirees in editorial, sales, circulation, marketing and management positions mostly served with distinction and enjoyed long careers in publishing, both in the U.S. and all over the globe. He is in contact with many of his former employees who enjoyed success in his various ventures.

Mr. Dimond was born on December 12, 1936, in Washington, D.C. to Helen Marie Murphy and James Robert Dimond. He is the father of three children with the former Patricia Berger: Mark Edward, Michele Lynn and Melinda Ann. He married Carol Mantia in 2012; she passed away in 2018 of cancer. Mr. Diamond has eight grandchildren named Teddy, Adam, Cameron, Jack, Peter, Tyler, Beth and Chase.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Robert Dimond has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
