During the previous decade, she honed her expertise with Porter & Orrison LLP. At the start of her career, she gained valuable expertise with Redmond, Stevens, Loftin & Currie, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, where she worked as senior associate counsel from 1980 until 1985, and with the Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. as senior trial counsel. In the 1990s and early-2000s, Ms. Orrison also worked as of counsel with Porter & Barrett and as partner with Porter, Orrison & Doster.
An alumna of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Ms. Orrison earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1975. Obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Georgia in Athens in 1977, she was licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Georgia that same year and by the North Carolina State Bar the year after. She has since been admitted to practice in all the United States Bankruptcy Courts in Georgia and North Carolina; all the United States District Courts in Georgia and North Carolina; the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida; the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Eleventh Circuit; and the Supreme Court of the United States. Today, she maintains affiliation with the American Arbitration Association's Panel of Construction Industry Arbitrators, the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and the Atlanta Surety Claims Association. Previously, she acted as Vice Chair and Chair of the Bonding & Insurance Committee of the Public Contract Law Section of the American Bar Association and was also a member of the Torts & Insurance Practice Section, the Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, and the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee of the ABA.
With decades of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Orrison served as a speaker and guest lecturer for such entities as the American Bar Association, the Federal Transit Administration, the APTA National Rapid Transit Conference, Houston METRO, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Construction Management Association of America on topics including, but not limited to, "Risk Assessment: Recent Developments in Subcontract and Bonding and Insurance Issues in Public Construction Contracts" and "The Surety: Offense, Defense and Representation." For her outstanding achievements in the field of law, she earned features in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, as well as the honor of Georgia Super Lawyer in 2019.
