Prior to becoming an esteemed researcher and educator, Dr. Li pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Science in economics from Nanjing University, a Master of Science in economics from Nanjing University and Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from Monash University. Likewise, he was recognized as a postdoctoral research fellow in economics at Monash University, the Australian National University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Li was mentored by Xiaokai Yang, James Buchanan, Yew-Kwang Ng and Bruce Jacobs. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, he was also a certified public accountant.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Li remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. He is an associate member of the American Economic Association, the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and several international prestigious think-tanks. Likewise, Dr. Li has been recognized as a fellow of the Entrepreneurs' Association and honorary president and board of directors' member of the Japan-China Management School and Japan Chinese MBA Association.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Dr. Li has won a number of accolades throughout his career. He received a senior research fellowship from the City University of Hong Kong in 2005, the World Bank in 2004, and the Asian Development Bank in 2015. Likewise, Dr. Li earned the National Research Prize from the Australian National University in 1998, from Monash University from 1997 to 1999, from Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute in 2009, and the National Education and Culture Award from the Imperial House of Japan in 2016. As a testament to his success, he was featured in the ninth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
