Judge G. William Davenport retired from his U.S. Administrative Law Judge position with the Social Security Administration in October 2015, after over 20 years (1994-2015) on the bench. He had previously served as a Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for over I5 years (1979-94), acting as a trial team leader for class action EEO cases in the Deep South. In that service, Judge Davenport won the largest Age Discrimination prosecution ever recorded at the time in the State of Alabama, as well as the largest Equal Pay Act recovery. He was a litigation associate with Dawson & Thomason, in Birmingham, Alabama, for two years (1977-79) when first admitted to the Bar, concentrating on criminal defense and plaintiff's bar related civil rights cases.
Judge Davenport holds a J.D. from Duke Law School (1977), and a separately earned Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University (1976), where he also won the Best Dissertation Award, after which Xerox University Publications put his book, Controlling the Multinational Corporations, into print. He graduated magna cum laude from Birmingham Southern College in 1972, where he was a member of both Phi Beta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Kappa honoraries.

One of Judge Davenport's proudest achievements is that he managed to mentor three (3) other EEOC lawyers who later achieved Administrative Law Judge status along with him, the highest merit based legal position in the Federal Service.
In light of all his accomplishments, Judge Davenport has previously been featured in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
