For David Burdette Oliver, the highlight of his career was his role in the growth and development of Knight Ridder Inc.

Now retired, Mr. Oliver accrued more than 34 years of experience as a communications company executive. His most recent position was as a manager of the data analysis department with Knight Ridder Inc. in Miami from 1975 to 1998. Prior to this appointment, he worked for the Miami Herald, where he held the posts of manager of marketing research and assistant to the president between 1964 and 1975. Earlier in his career, Mr. Oliver briefly contributed as an assistant buyer for Wren's Department Store in Springfield, Ohio, from 1961 to 1962.
In preparation of his career, Mr. Oliver pursued a formal education at Wittenberg University in Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1962. A short while later, he secured a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami in Coral Gables in 1964. For Mr. Oliver, the highlight of his career was his role in the growth and development of Knight Ridder Inc. He is also proud of his research efforts with the aforementioned company, which resulted in the best financial and progressive decisions to be made on the behalf of the company.
An active individual in his community, Mr. Oliver has served as a committee member with the United Way of Dade Miami-Dade in Florida since 1970. Additionally, he is a past member of the Biscayne Gardens Civic Association in 1985, and was responsible for the operation of the Miami Lakes Softball program since 2009. For his contributions to his community, Mr. Oliver was named one of the Outstanding Young Men in America, by the Coral Gables Jaycees in 1970. In June of 2019, he was inducted into the Miami Lakes Sports Hall of fame.
To remain abreast of developments in the field, Mr. Oliver maintains affiliation with the Economic Society of South Florida. He has also dedicated his time as the president of the Loch Isle Homeowners Association and the Miami Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club as well as the vice chair of the Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee. Outside of work, Mr. Oliver enjoys softball, basketball, reading, theater and working out in his spare time.
