A retired elementary school educator, Betty H. Gaddis taught in the Knox County Kentucky Board of Education at Gray West Knox for more than three decades

A retired elementary school educator, Ms. Gaddis taught in the Knox County Kentucky Board of Education at Gray West Knox for more than three decades between 1964 and 1998. During her tenure in education, she also worked as a teacher of mathematics workshops from 1984 to 1990 and was a consultant for the Knox Board of Education from 1994 to 1998.
Ms. Gaddis is a member of the National Education Association and the Kentucky Education Retired Teachers. She is also past president and an officer of Presbyterian Women, and Elder of the Presbyterian Church. She is also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The recipient of a scientific grant by Science in the School in Kentucky, Ms. Gaddis also received a Reading in Primary Award in Kentucky and has been named Kentucky Colonel. She has been featured in the 25th and 26th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
Ms. Gaddis holds a limited arts degree from Sue Bennett College since 1961, Bachelor of Science from the University of the Cumberlands since 1963 and Master of Arts from Union College since 1976. She then spent another year at Union College, where she completed postgraduate coursework from 1977 to 1978, receiving her Rank I.
Married to Luther H. Gaddis Jr. for 44 years before his death in 2005, Ms. Gaddis enjoys sketching and drawing, crocheting, knitting, sewing and basket weaving. She also loves working in her flower and vegetable gardens, singing, writing and traveling. In her free time, she can often be found volunteering with the Food Pantry of Corbin. She has been volunteering her time with the non-profit since 1977.
