Elizabeth McKnight Haskell was featured in Lears Magazine for her outstanding work and determination

After working in journalism and business for more than 12 years, Ms. Haskell left the field in the mid-1980s when she found success in teaching journalism and environmental science from Lawrence Academy. Over the years, Ms. Haskell has held a number of notable positions including photographer, writer, communications and marketing manager, director of operations, real estate broker and city clerk. She continues to be president of New Century Conservation Trust which conducted the Rio Roosevelt Expedition and Livingstone's Last Journeys Expedition in the 1990's.
Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Haskell is especially proud of co-producing documentaries such as "The River of Doubt" and "In the Footsteps of Dr. Livingstone" on PBS. She also produced and hosted the interactive television series "Living Classroom." Today, Ms. Haskell is retired, but still serves as president of her nonprofit environmental education organization.
Featured in Lears Magazine for her outstanding work and determination, Ms. Haskell initially earned a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University and concluded her academic efforts with a Master of Arts in environmental affairs from Clark University.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Haskell was affiliated with the Society of Professional Journalists and the Society of Woman Geographers, from which she was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award in 1996. In 1992, the Theodore Roosevelt Association awarded her the TR Distinguished Service Medal. During her spare time, she has contributed to her community through the Rutland County Solid Waste District, the Merrymeeting AIDS Support Services and the Bath Community Forestry Committee. Looking toward the future, Ms. Haskell is writing her memoirs.
