Leading a prolific career in banking, Ms. Torneden has excelled with First State Bank and Trust, Tonganoxie, Kansas for nearly 45 years. Beginning with the banking company in 1974, she contributed as an administrative secretary to the president and chairman of the board until 1980. Ms. Torneden further held the posts of assistant cashier, compliance officer, and bank security officer from 1981 to 1997. As her responsibilities with the company increased, she held the positions of assistant vice president, loan operations office, loan production specialist, and loan assistant between 1997 and 2009. She has most recently found success as the senior loan assistant since 2009.
Prior to commencing her professional journey, Ms. Torneden attended Kansas City Kansas Community College, earning a business certificate in 1974. She also completed coursework at the National Compliance School with the University of Oklahoma in Norman, She obtained a mortgage lending diploma from the American Institute of Banking in 1997.
Ms. Torneden has volunteered her time as a lobbyist and treasurer for the 24-40 Highway Task Force in Leavenworth County, Kansas between 1989 and 1991. She has been secretary and member of the Board of Directors for Reno Cemetery Association since 1986, and was co-founder and chairman of Tonganoxie Days from 1986 to 2015. She was a graduate of Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development in 1991. Ms. Torneden has also been associated with the Maple Grove Cemetery Association since 1995 and the Reno Township Fire Department since 1996.
A member of the Tonganoxie Community Historical Society, she has been affiliated with the Tonganoxie Chamber of Commerce, the Tonganoxie Jaycees, the Dairy Farmers of America, and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), among others. As a testament to her longevity in the field, she was presented with the Citizen of the Year Award and the Member of the Year Award from the Tonganoxie Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Woman of the Year Award from the ABWA. Likewise, she was a nominee of the Top Ten Business Women by the ABWA in 2005.
An exceptionally distinguished Marquis listee, Ms. Torneden has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World. Additionally, she was the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. Outside of her essential duties, she enjoys music, fossil collecting, stamp collecting, coin collecting, writing poetry, and writing short stories.
