Earlier in his career, he was an associate producer for "Silents Please" from 1959 to 1960, an agency TV producer for Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn from 1954 to 1962, a talent agent for MCA from 1952 to 1954 and a staff writer for Look Magazine from 1950 to 1951.
Mr. Brown was a sketch and lyric writer for Julius Monk Reviews from 1960 to 1969 and for "That Was the Week That Was" from 1964 to 1965. He was a writer for Max Liebman from 1960 to 1961, the "Jackie Gleason Show" in 1962, and "New Faces of 1968." He is also the author of "The Girl in the Freudian Slip," "How to Steal an Election," "The Wiz," "Damon's Song," "Twist" and "The Nutley Papers."
In addition to his primary roles, Mr. Brown was a contributing writer to "Love, American Style," a co-author and co-artist of the comic strip "Boomer," and he has written for cabarets, night clubs, and industrial shows. He was the author and illustrator of "Tiger, Tiger," "Beat Beat Beat," "The Abominable Showmen" and "The World is my Yo-Yo." He has further contributed articles, fiction, and cartoons to popular magazine.
Mr. Brown pursued an education at Princeton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in psychology in 1950. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of a Drama Desk Award, he was nominated for a Tony Award by the League of New York Theatres and Producers.
