Prior to this engagement, he contributed as the vice president of quality assurance and regulatory affairs with Cascade Medical Inc. between 1989 and 1995, having previously served as the director of quality assurance and regulatory affairs with Garid, Inc., in Eden Prairie, MN, from 1986 and 1989. Earlier in his career, he served the roles of a manager of quality assurance, a program manager, and a configuration manager with several other Minnesota-based companies including Control Data Corporation, Univac, Maico Inc., and Dalhberg Inc., between 1964 and 1986. In addition to his primary duties, Mr. Meyer was active as a consultant for Bayer and MacElrath in Detroit and the president of the Institute for Basic Church Management in Minneapolis, between 1973 and 1976.
Civically, Mr. Meyer maintained his involvement as a senior examiner for the Minnesota Council for Quality and a member of the quality advisory board for Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota, since 1993. He completed service for the United States Army between 1947 and 1949. In 1954, Mr. Meyer earned degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
A registered professional engineer in the state of Minnesota, Mr. Meyer maintains his membership with the National Society of Professional Engineers, for which he had served as the vice chairman of the Minnesota chapter in 1962. To remain aware of changes in his vocation, he is affiliated with the American Society for Quality, where he has held the posts of the chapter chairman, a member of its board of directors, and the past chairman of the board between 1988 and 1997.
Throughout his career, he has actively presented papers, consulted and tutored graduate and post-graduate workshops on philosophy and the practicality of continuous improvement in pursuit of consumer satisfaction and corporate profitability.
