Dr. Margaret Boadle-Biber is currently a professor emerita of physiology and biophysics at Virginia Commonwealth University.

A seasoned educator, Dr. Boadle-Biber is currently a professor emerita of physiology and biophysics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She transferred to VCU after serving on the faculty in the Department of Pharmacology of Yale University School of Medicine first as a research associate (1968-69), then as an instructor (1969-71), and last as assistant professor (1971-75). Dr. Boadle-Biber joined the Department of Physiology at VCU in 1975 as an associate professor and was promoted to full professor in 1987, a position she held until her retirement in 2017. She served as Interim Chair of the Department from 1991 -93 and as Chair from 1993 until 2007.
Dr. Boadle-Biber earned a Bachelor of Science Special in Physiology from University College London in 1964 and a D. Phil., from Oxford University in 1967 in Biochemical Pharmacology. Throughout her career, she has retained affiliations with a number of professional associations, including the Society for Neuroscience, the American Physiological Society, the American Society for Neurochemistry, and the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. She served two four-year terms on Research Review Committees for the National Institute of Mental Health. Her published research focuses on the central monoamine neurotransmitter/modulator, serotonin, and the use of biochemical strategies to analyze the responses of this system to environmental and pharmacological stimuli. During her career, she enjoyed extensive success teaching physiology to graduate and health professional students.
Dr. Boadle-Biber has been recognized over the years for her work in science and education. She was featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
