With more than 40 years of experience in investment banking to his credit, Mr. Burbank has become an authority in his industry. He began his career path as a registered representative at Vance, Sanders & Co. from 1946 to 1953, the president of Burbank & Co. Inc. from 1953 to 1982 and the director of the A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc. from 1982 to 1983. He concluded his career in 1985 after two years as a consultant on the board of directors of Colonial Investment Services Inc. Mr. Burbank sat on the board of directors of MassBank for Savings in 1994 and on the board of governors for the Boston Stock Exchange from 1965 to 1973.
Prior to becoming an esteemed investment banker, Mr. Burbank served with the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. Following this opportunity, he went on to pursue higher education and attended Boston University, where he completed coursework between 1946 and 1947. Coming to his career path quite by chance, Mr. Burbank was initially referred to Vance, Sanders & Co. by an old acquaintance he ran into after returning from military service.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Burbank remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. A member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, he was active on the business conduct committee from 1971 to 1973 and as the governor from 1974 to 1977, among other roles. Mr. Burbank has been involved in his community as well and notably held the position of vice chair of the American Red Cross from 1963 to 1982.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Burbank has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career. Honored for his military service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and several Air Medals by the by United States Army. Additionally, one of the proudest moments of his career came when he built and ran an ice arena for his local community. Mr. Burbank has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.
