Robin Purdie led a prolific career in the United States Air Force.

A native of Cambridge, England, Mr. Purdie relocated to the United States in 1943 at the young age of three years old. He led a prolific career in the United States Air Force. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1961. Soon thereafter, he trained to become a pilot at Williams Air Force Base in 1962 and later a pilot instructor and an examiner at Travis and the Altus Air Force Bases between 1962 and 1972. Mr. Purdie also piloted the EC-47 in Nakhan Phanom, Thailand, from 1973 to 1974, prior to becoming a C-5 squadron commander and deputy commander of operations at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware between 1973 and 1985.
As he continued his career with the Air Force, Mr. Purdie was director of standardization/evaluation for Military Airlift Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois between 1985 and 1989. After serving in the role of the deputy chief of staff for operations with the 22nd Air Force at the Travis Air Force Base for two years, he retired from the United States military in 1991. For his exemplary service, Mr. Purdie was decorated with the Legion of Merit Medal and Air Medal, among others.
To remain aware of the latest developments in his vocation, Mr. Purdie maintains professional ties with the Air Force Association, the Order of Daedalians, the Retired Officers' Association, the Airlift Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Purdie pursued a formal education at San Diego State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. He then received a Master of Political Science at Auburn University in 1973. Utilizing his educational and professional background, Mr. Purdie contributed as an editor for the textbook "Tongue and Quill" in 1976 and as a writer for a number of articles published in professional journals.
An exceptional Marquis listee, Mr. Purdie has been selected for inclusion in the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who in the West. He attributes his success to his wife, Marian. Without her support, he believes success would not have been possible. Mr. Purdie enjoys running, playing tennis, skiing, square dancing, gardening, and antique automobiles in his spare time.
