With more than 65 years of professional experience, Mr. Fine was special counsel with Littler Mendelson from 2000 to 2015. Prior thereto, he was a partner at Streich Lang from 1996 to 2000 and with O'Connor, Cavanagh, et al, from 1981 to 1996. From 1976 to 1980, he was an associate professor at the University of Detroit, and from 1969 to 1981, he was an attorney and partner with Clark, Hardy, Lewis & Fine. He previously served as an attorney and associate with Griffith & Griffith Law Firm from 1963 to 1969 and as an attorney with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board from 1960 to 1963. Earlier in his career, he was an editor and writer with the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads from 1958 to 1961 and a floor director, announcer and editor with WKOW Radio and TV from 1952 to 1958.
Mr. Fine pursued an education with the University of Wisconsin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1955. He subsequently served to the rank of first lieutenant with the U.S. Army until 1957. He then joined Washington College of Law of The American University, completing a Bachelor of Laws and Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1961. He has been admitted to practice law in the states of Michigan and Arizona, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Fine has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. A Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, he is a member of the American Employment Law Council, the Arizona Bar Association and the Michigan Bar Association. He has also been active with the American Arbitration Association, the Arizona Supreme Court Commission on Minorities, the Meadowlake Homeowners Association and The School Law Institute.
Throughout his career, Mr. Fine has been recognized for his contributions. A scholarship fund was established in his name at the University of Detroit School of Law in 1979, and he received the Order of Barristers Award in 1978. Likewise, he was the recipient of the Best Advocate Award from the National Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC, in 1960. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
