With more than 65 years of experience in physics and consulting, Mr. Timblin has become an authority in his industry and currently serves as an independent water resources consultant at the United States Bureau of Reclamation. He began his career at the Bureau of Reclamation as a physicist from 1950 to 1958, the head of the special investigations laboratory section from 1958 to 1963, the chief of the chemical engineering branch from 1963 to 1970 and the chief of the applied sciences branch from 1970 to 1991. Mr. Timblin also served as the chair of the technology program at the International Symposium on Geomembranes in Denver in 1984 and as a member of the United States Society on Dams. Mr. Timblin is especially proud of his work with the International Commission on Large Dams, where he has sat on the committee on the environment since 1987.
Prior to becoming an established professional, Mr. Timblin served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1945. He earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics from the University of Colorado in 1950 and a Master of Science in physics from the University of Denver in 1967. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Colorado and a certified corrosion specialist. Mr. Timblin is also a patentee in the field. Happily married to the late Barbara Helen McNiel for many decades, he is the father of one daughter, Carol Lynn, and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Tyler.
In light of his many contributions to the field, Mr. Timblin has received a number of accolades throughout his career. The United States Department of the Interior presented him with the Distinguished Service Award in 1991 and the Merit Service Award in 1977. He was also featured in the 23rd and 24th editions of Who's Who in the West.
