With more than 40 years professional experience to his credit, Mr. Schwier is currently retired, having excelled as a manager of Fluor-Daniel Hanford and successor contractors from 1996 to 2012. Prior to this role, he served as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Warfare Assessment Division Corona from 1993-1995 and Comptroller at Norfolk and Charleston Naval Shipyards from 1990 to 1993. Moreover, Mr. Schwier found success as the founder of Building Leaders and Teams and the Director of Operations on the staff of the Commander Joint Task Force Middle East from 1989-1990.
Executive Officer of the USS Estocin (FFG-15) from 1980 to 1982, Mr. Schwier held the posts of Commanding Officer of the USS Aylwin (FF1081) as well as the Flag Secretary and Aide to Commander Naval Surface Force Atlantic Fleet between 1982 and 1984. Previously he worked as the Staff Material Officer Commander Destroyer Squadron 15 in Yokosuka, Japan from 1975 to 1978 and the Engineer Officer on the USS Reasoner (FF-1063) from 1973 to 1975. Notably, Mr. Schwier was active as the Main Propulsion Assistant on the USS Eugene A. Greene (DD-711) from 1970-1972.
Mr. Schwier began his career as an ensign with the United States Navy in 1969, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering with the Naval Academy the same year. He later continued his studies with the Naval Postgraduate School, earning a Master of Science in weapons systems technology in 1980. Subsequently, Mr. Schwier became certified as a manager, a quality engineer, a weapon system acquisition manager, and a surface warfare officer.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schwier has been celebrated for his contributions to the field. He has been recognized as the Comptroller of the Year by the American Society of Military Comptrollers, the Member of the Year by the National Management Association, and a Distinguished Toastmaster. Likewise, Mr. Schwier has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in the West.
