PORTLAND, ME, July 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Eugene C. Fetteroll Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Fetteroll celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Fetteroll is a former human resources professional and president of Fetteroll Associates, a firm that was based in South Portland, Maine. Specializing in management training for executives, managers, supervisors and lead people, the firm also focused its efforts on team building and facilitation in a total quality environment and train-the-trainer programs. Establishing his successful business in 1989, Mr. Fetteroll later retired in 2012.
Originally working for the Boston Gas Company between 1957 and 1977, it was during this very influential time in his career that he was able to grow professionally. Working alongside some of the best in the industry, he was selected to make presentations to the public to educate them on the many benefits of liquefied natural gas. Making more than 300 presentations in all, Mr. Fetteroll soon after became director of training and eventually began pursuing a master's degree in education. In 1977, he became the director of safety and training for Eastern Enterprises in Boston. He then became a training consultant and vice president of human resources at Associated Industries of Massachusetts in Boston, where he remained until 1989 when he went into business for himself.
During his career, Mr. Fetteroll contributed to the development of multiple publications. In 1989, he edited "The Trainer's Resource: A Comprehensive Guide to Packaged Training Programs" and served on the advisory board of "The Training and Development Handbook." He later co-authored "Growing Teams: A Down-to-Earth Approach" in 1993 and wrote "The Sage's Secrets of Successful Supervision" in 2004. In "The Sage's Secrets," Mr. Fetteroll identifies eight distinct competencies that, if conscientiously applied in work as a supervisor, working relationships will be enhanced and productivity improved. He also authored "Selecting and Training the Trainer," published by AMACOM as part of their "Human Resources Management & Development Handbook."
Volunteering for the United Way in Massachusetts and Rhode Island since 1965, Mr. Fetteroll has also been involved in several other community organizations over the years. He served as vice chairman on the board of trustees of the Medfield Public Library in Massachusetts, chairman of the School Land Acquisition Committee in Medfield and member of the board of directors of the Growth Opportunity Alliance Lawrence/Quality Productivity Competitiveness in Salem, New Hampshire. Mr. Fetteroll received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut in 1957. Returning to college years later, he then earned a Master of Education from Suffolk University in 1973.
Mr. Fetteroll and his wife Barbara, who passed on January 18, 2019, became active supporters of Maine Maritime Academy, its scholar-athletes, and programs after a chance meeting with former MMA football coach, Mike Hodgson. They learned of a player who was paying his own way through college because one parent was dead and the other had left home. According to the Fetterolls, they "were impressed by his dedication. We wanted to provide some assistance to him but couldn't do it directly because of NCAA regulations." So, through Friends of Mariner Football, the Fetterolls began their support of this player and other players. Although neither Gene nor Barbara attended MMA; nor did any of their children or other relatives, they developed a deep appreciation of the Academy thanks to small random acts of kindness on the part of students, faculty, coaches, and staff. Why have Gene and Barbara begun an endowed scholarship fund at Maine Maritime Academy? Because, as Gene stated, "If you throw a stone into a small pond, you can see and appreciate the ripples."
A member of the national ethics committee and past president of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters of the Association for Talent Development (formerly known as the American Society for Training and Development), Mr. Fetteroll notably received the Torch Award from the organization in 1978. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education and the Massachusetts Arms Collectors. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Fetteroll has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who In Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Fetteroll has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
