A licensed clinical social worker, Mrs. Marshall began her career as a caseworker with the Youth Consultation Service from 1960 to 1962. She further progressed to the post of a program consultant for the Social Work Recruiting Center, between 1962 to 1963, before accepting the role of a casework supervisor with Louise Wise Services from 1963 to 1968. Mrs. Marshall later excelled as a faculty field instructor for the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City between 1968 and 1970. After finding success as the director of social work volunteer and student training programs at Roosevelt Hospital, from 1970 to 1975, Mrs. Marshall returned to the Columbia University, where she flourished as the assistant director of fieldwork and a faculty lecturer in health care between 1975 and 1978.
Furthermore, Mrs. Marshall worked for Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey, as the director of social work and psychiatric emergency services from 1978 to 1995. She concluded her career as a social worker and consultant from 1995 until her retirement in 2002. Moreover, she contributed as an adjunct professor with Columbia University, and a consultant for the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mrs. Marshall has also authored articles for professional journals, and helped produce numerous related film and television productions. In 1989 she was named Social Work Director of the year by New Jersey Hospital Social Work Directors.
Before embarking on her professional path, Mrs. Marshall graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. Soon thereafter, she earned a Master of Social Work at Columbia University in New York City, New York in 1959. Mrs. Marshall is also a board certified diplomate and holds licenses to practice social work in the states of New York and New Jersey. She is one of the "pioneer" members of the NASW, the National Association of Social Workers.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Mrs. Marshall has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who Among Human Service Professionals. Additional achievements to her credit include having the Welcome Terrace at the Columbia School of Social Work named in her honor during 2004. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Mrs. Marshall enjoys film, theatre and dance in her spare time.
