Over the years, he has found much success in mergers and acquisitions, including leveraged buyouts, public offerings and private placements of securities, commercial and energy lending, governance matters, SEC compliance, contract preparation and negotiation and much more. Prior to his current role, he excelled as a partner and of counsel for Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP from 1999 until 2007 and as a partner for Locke Purnell Rain Harrell from 1987 until 1998. One of Mr. Bishop's earliest posts in the field was of partner with Rain, Harrell, Emery, Young & Doke from 1972 until 1987.
Before beginning in the field, Mr. Bishop earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas in 1968. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard University and was admitted to practice law through the Texas Bar Association and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in 1972. He maintains his professional affiliation with the Dallas Petroleum Club, the State Bar of Texas' corporate law committee and corporate banking and business law section, and the American Bar Association. Utilizing his considerable knowledge, Mr. Bishop authored "The New Texas Business Organizations Code."
Mr. Bishop has been honored many times for his efforts in law. In addition to accepting an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, he was recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer through Texas Monthly Magazine. Previously featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Mr. Bishop has been celebrated among the Best Lawyers in America since 2003.
