With more than 35 years of excellence in healthcare, Dr Renuart has found success as an internist at Baptist Primary Care in Northeast Florida since 1996. He began his professional endeavors in 1983, holding the position of phlebotomist at Alachua General Hospital for three years before contributing his talents toward various emergency services, serving as a an EMT, a firefighter and an ambulance attendant until 1986. During this time he studied avidly at the University of Florida earning an Associates of Arts and Bachelor of Science. He matriculated to Nova Southeastern University upon graduation obtaining a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1990. Thus equipped to begin his medical career in earnest, Dr. Renuart soon accepted an internship at Metropolitan General Hospital in Pinellas Park, Florida.
The following year, Dr. Renuart relocated to Jacksonville to enter the University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville to attend his residency, which concluded in 1994. Now certified to pursue his trade in internal medicine, he joined Drs. Lynch and Vetere, a private medical practice, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. In 1996, the practice joined the Baptist Primary Care Network. Meanwhile, Dr. Renuart was commissioned with the Florida Army National Guard, distinguishing himself as a field surgeon during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan ultimately rising to the rank of colonel. He later returned to Iraq as a flight surgeon flying over 120 hours in Blackhawk helicopters and flying on 28 combat missions. His leadership qualities were recognized by Baptist Medical Center Beaches medical staff, who elected him to run the institution's department of medicine in 1998. He progressed with Medical Center to the position of chief of staff in 2004 prior to making his entry into politics.
Dr. Renuart won election to the Florida House of Representatives in 2008 and eventually he served four terms representing Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Beaches, Ponte Vedra Beach, and St. Augustine. While serving the people of his district, he helped preside over multiple pieces of legislation, which were enshrined into law. One bill in particular required that high school athletes who suffer concussions in the midst of playing not be readmitted to the game, a reform of which he is quite proud. Then Governor, Rick Scott, signed the bill into law at Ponte Vedra High School in a special ceremony. He also chaired or co-chaired numerous committees in relation to his expertise in veteran and health affairs. Leaving the state legislature in 2015, he returned to his medical practice full time and served as president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association from 2017 to 2018.
A renowned figure in the area of expertise, Dr. Renuart has won numerous accolades honoring his visionary talents, including a Leadership Award from the American Cancer Society, a Legislative Champion Award from the American Diabetes Association, and several awards for supporting free enterprise. For his military career, he received many medals for his service including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak clusters, the Florida Cross Medal and the Order of Military Medical Merit. To remain abreast of developments in his field, he maintains affiliation with groups such as the American Osteopathic Association and the Florida Osteopathic Association. In his spare time, Dr Renuart enjoys hiking, photography, whitewater rafting, target shooting, and the restoration of American muscle cars. He currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with his lovely wife, Tamara. They have seven children and five grandchildren.
